Steven Stark

Steven is a drummer from Auchtermuchty in Fife. Steven was mostly self-taught, gaining a few lessons with a local drummer at High School. He was also part of Methil and District Pipe Band where he played at competition level with a young band. Steven applied to the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music when he was 14 and studied there until leaving school in 2018.

During studying at Plockton, Steven was taught by incredible jazz drummer, educator, piano tuner and music hypnotist, Sam Anstice Brown. Steven gained knowledge and better understanding of drumming from different parts of the world whist being taught by Sam and also worked hard on his technique. Steven plays the accordion too and was also taught by Sandy Brechin.

Upon leaving Plockton, Steven also then began studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow where he was taught by Fraser Stone (Box Club, Old Blind Dogs, and Treacherous Orchestra).

Steven has also taken part in the Ceilidh Trail Projects; once in 2016 with Fèis Fhoirt , again in 2017, this time with Fèis Rois and finally in 2018, again with Fèis Rois. It was in this final Ceilidh Trail that Steven performed at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in France alongside Cavan and other young musicians.
